Smoother, Brighter Skin

A chemical peel is another name for exfoliation and involves applying a substance which removes the top layer of skin, thereby improving overall skin appearance and texture. There are different peels for various skin concerns and at different strengths.

Before the Treatment

Preparing the skin before a chemical peel is important to ensure the treatment is as effective as possible. High strength retinoids, glycolic and salicylic acids should be avoided for at least two weeks before treatment. Skincare products containing active ingredients should be avoided 3-5 days before treatment. For darker skin types, melanin inhibitors may be required. Please book a consultation first or contact us before booking if you are unsure.

During the Treatment

Some chemical peels cause a stinging sensation as they work their way through the skin. This is completely normal and can usually be reduced by using a fan on the area during the peel application.

Immediately After

Skin may have redness, warmth and feel tight immediately after treatment which will subside within 24 - 48 hours. As the peel increases cell turnover, some flaking may appear in the days following treatment.

Long-Term Benefits

Clearer, brighter skin with reduced pigmentation, acne and rosacea.

Not Suitable For

Darker skin tones are a risk of Post Inflammatory Hyperpigmentation so lower strength peels are advised. Not suitable if pregnant or breastfeeding. Not suitable on broken skin.

Top Tips

Care should be taken post-treatment to avoid the sun as the skin is sensitised after treatment.

For accelerated skin healing, we would advise adding on a Dermalux LED Light Therapy treatment.
